礬土又稱礬土或鋁土礦,主要成分是氧化鋁,系含有雜質的水合氧化鋁,是一種土狀礦物,白色或灰白色,因含鐵而呈褐黃或淺紅色。密度2.4-2.5g/cm3,硬度1~3,不透明,質脆,極難熔化,不溶于水,能溶于****溶液,主要用于煉鋁,制耐火材料。 耐火材料行業所稱的鋁礬土通常是指煅燒后Al2O3>=48%、而含Fe2O3較低的高鋁礬土熟料。熟料為灰白淺黃及深灰色,它主要用于高鋁質耐火材料,也可用來制作電熔棕剛玉。高鋁礬土熟料是按AL2O3含量及Fe2O3、TiO2、CaO+MgO、K2O+Na2O等雜質含量和熟料體積密度與吸水等項指標來分級的。

(4)硅酸鋁耐火纖維--具有重量輕,耐高溫,熱穩定性好,導熱率低,熱容小和耐機械震動等優點。用于鋼鐵、有色冶金、電子、石油、化工、宇航、原子能、國防等多種工業。它是把高鋁熟料放進融化溫度約為2000~2200℃的高溫電弧爐中,經高溫熔化、高壓高速空氣或蒸汽噴吹、冷卻**成了潔白的“棉花”——硅酸鋁耐火纖維。它可壓成纖維毯、板或織成布代替冶煉、化工、玻璃等工業高溫窯爐內襯的耐火磚。消防人員可用耐火纖維布做成衣服。
(5) 以鎂砂和礬土熟料為原料,加入適當結合劑,用于澆注盛鋼桶整體桶襯效果甚佳。
